Backwoods Camp Moorlakes 7-10 August 2022

Date: 9th Sep 2022 Author: Scout Websites

5 Scouts, 4 leaders & 1 Carer attended our summer backwoods camp at Moorlakes Wood Scout Centre. We were fortunate that the weather was on our side and the sun shone for the entire duration.

This Camp gave Scouts and leaders alike the opportunity to hone their outdoor skills. Scouts prepared and cooked their own meals over open fires and also had the opportunity sleep in hammocks under tarps (opinion was divided as to how comfortable it was)!

On the final night the Scouts built their own bivouac from materials sourced in the surrounding woodland. They were a little apprehensive about sleeping overnight in their shelter but it turned out to be the best night’s sleep on camp!

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
