Scouts sell poppies on behalf of the Royal British legion

Date: 21st Nov 2024 Author: Ben Ball

A big thank you to the Scouts, Leaders and parents who supported our recent poppy selling initiative on behalf of the Royal British Legion.

Scouts manned the stall in the foyer of Sainsbury’s, Quay Parade, from 9-5 on 30 October and we also had a presence at the Festival of Remembrance, Brangwyn Hall on 9 November, where a small contingent of our Scouts manned the stall prior to the performance. One of our SPL’s, Ziggy Ball, had the honour of being Rhyddings flag bearer and accompanied the police and military flag bearers up on to the stage for the duration of the performance -well done Ziggy!

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
